I thoroughly enjoy painting female kits. And the figures sculpted by Roberto Von Behr are some of my favorites. I was fortunate to paint a prototype of his Princess of Mars sculpt being developed by Resin Pimps. What I hate about girl kits is the amount of prep work required, which is significantly higher because of the nature of the piece. Sanding, priming, filling, sanding, priming, filling, sanding, sanding, filling, sanding, etc. At least half of the total time spent on these build-ups is devoted to prep work. Every time I think I’m ready to starting paint there’s another detail to address. Even a piece as beautifully sculpted and cleanly cast as this one had little things that needed attention. Some of the fine jewelry detail was a little soft.
